Ningbo Beilun Third Container Terminal has launched a second tender for a high-voltage shore power project covering Berths 7 and 8 at the terminal.

Ningbo reissues shore power tender for Beilun terminal
The project calls for the installation of one ship shore-based box power supply system with a high-voltage output capacity of 5 MVA. The construction value is listed at RMB13.43 million, with the project funded entirely by the terminal company.
The scheme has been approved by Zhejiang Seaport Investment and Operation Group and Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Group. The tender covers construction within the scope of the project drawings, with detailed quantities and technical requirements set out in the procurement documents.
Works are scheduled to take 140 calendar days. The terminal will continue normal production during construction, meaning the contractor will have to coordinate work around ongoing terminal operations and mobilise within 24 hours when instructed by the project owner.
The tender requires bidders to have completed high-voltage shore power construction, installation or retrofit work since the beginning of 2023. Joint bids are not accepted. Tender documents are available from 7 to 14 August, with bids due by 08.30 on 19 August.
The procurement is the second attempt to award the project. An earlier tender for the same shore power works at Berths 7 and 8 failed after the first bidding process produced no valid bidders. Results from that process were published from 4 to 6 August before the project was reissued.
The terminal has also been procuring supporting equipment for its shore power operations. A separate 2026 tender covered an extension device for high-voltage shore power connection cables, with a second procurement round identifying Chengrui Power Technology (Shanghai) as the preferred candidate at RMB639,011.
The projects form part of wider shore power deployment across Ningbo-Zhoushan Port. Zhejiang Seaport Group reports that shore power coverage at container berths and dry bulk berths serving vessels of at least 50,000 deadweight tonnes has reached 98 per cent.
The project will be built inside the existing terminal area, with the construction package covering the works shown in project drawings as well as the bill of quantities and technical requirements issued with the tender. The latest procurement focuses specifically on the new 5 MVA system serving Berths 7 and 8.
The tender also sets safety and quality requirements for the contractor, including compliance with applicable construction standards and a requirement for zero fatalities during the works. No contractor has yet been selected under the reissued process.
