Global Port Services Shipping (GPSS) has secured a multi-million-pound contract to provide marine logistics and vessel support to Seaway7 for its role in the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm project.

GPSS secures Inch Cape offshore wind logistics deal
The contract, which is expected to support more than 100 local jobs, will see the Port of Cromarty Firth in Invergordon act as the intermediate port for the Seaway Alfa Lift.
The heavy-lift crane vessel will make multiple calls at the UK port, marking its first operations in the country.
The deep-water facility at Invergordon will operate as a project base throughout the duration of the contract.
GPSS will work alongside group companies, including Global Port Services Projects, Global Crane Services and SB Services, as well as local subcontractors, to deliver labour, plant and resource support across four port calls totalling around 90 days.
The first call began in March 2026, with the Seaway Alfa Lift spending four weeks in port ahead of loading transition pieces at Port of Leith.
More than 100 skilled workers per day supported operations during this period, including painters, welders, electricians and scaffolders, feeding into the local supply chain and regional economy.
A second port call is scheduled for later in summer 2026. Support teams will operate on a 24/7 basis across 12-hour shift patterns during each call.
Preparations for the project have already involved the delivery of more than 100 truckloads of equipment to Invergordon, alongside additional cargo arriving by sea.
Simon Marshall, Shipping Director at Global Port Services Shipping, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Seaway7 in our vital role as intermediate port for Inch Cape, which is set to be one of Scotland’s largest offshore wind farms, supporting the UK’s drive to net zero and greater energy security. It’s a privilege to welcome Seaway Alfa Lift for its first UK port calls and the benefit, in terms of jobs and for the local supply chain, will be significant.”
Joanne Allday, Head of Strategy and Business Development at Port of Cromarty Firth, stated: “The Inch Cape project is the latest wind farm to take advantage of the Port’s sheltered, deep-water berths, and of the experience and track record of local people and businesses.
“We have supported wind farm construction for over 20 years, and projects such as this demonstrate the capabilities of Scotland’s ports and supply chain in enabling critical domestic energy production.”
Niamh Thompson, Senior Project Manager at Seaway7, said: “GPSS has a long-standing track record of supporting Seaway7 and Subsea7 projects, and their ability to mobilise strong local capability has been central to our delivery strategy for the Inch Cape Project.
“Bringing the Seaway Alfa Lift to Scotland for its first UK port call, while sustaining local jobs, demonstrates the value of partnering with experienced providers who understand both our operational needs and the importance of investing in local supply chains.”
