Advantages and application range of torque motor-driven cable reeling drum

Torque motor-driven cable reeling drum is widely used in bucket wheel stacker reclaimer, gantry crane, ship loader, container crane, tower crane and other large mechanical equipment that need parallel movement.

Organization composition:

Torque motor cable drum consists of squirrel cage torque motor or rotor slip ring motor, reducer, slip ring box, cable drum, cam limit switch and other main components.

Working principle

Torque motor has soft mechanical characteristics, its output torque can change with the change of output speed. When the direction of rotation of the torque motor magnetic field is the same as that of the cable reel, the torque motor does positive work.When the magnetic field of the torque motor is selected in the opposite direction to that of the cable reel, the torque motor does negative work.When the cable drum is retracted, the magnetic field rotation direction of the torque motor corresponds to that of the coil. The torque motor does positive work and its output torque is transmitted to the coil through the reducer, thus the cable is wrapped around the coil and the retracted work is completed.When the cable drum is laid down, the magnetic field rotation direction of the torque motor is opposite to that of the coil, and the coil is reversed under the pulling force of the cable. At this time, the torque motor does negative work and its output torque is transferred to the coil through the reducer, forming cable tension.Under the action of this tension, the cable disengages smoothly from the reel and completes the cable laying operation.

Function

Torque motor-driven cable drum has soft mechanical characteristics because of its motor stalling. When the load torque increases, it can automatically reduce the speed and increase the output torque in the same time to maintain the balance with the load so as to maximizes the protection of the cable. When the load torque is a certain value, the motor speed can be adjusted by changing the motor terminal voltage. It has the characteristics of low speed, large torque, strong overload capacity, fast response and small torque uctuation. It can directly drive the load without the reducing transmission gear, thus improving the operation accuracy of the system.
