Maersk’s decarbonisation centre inks green maritime partnership with Sea

Sea, a maritime software provider, and the Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping have signed a Knowledge Partnership Agreement committing to decarbonise the maritime sector.

Sea offers data-driven solutions for sustainable shipping. Under the agreement, Sea becomes the Center’s knowledge partner, granting access to its robust pre-trade intelligence and analytics tool.

This tool reportedly processes around 68.7 billion AIS data points annually, offering insights into port activities, vessel deployment, emissions evaluations, green corridors, waiting times, and fleet speed developments.

Bo Cerup-Simonsen, CEO of the Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller Center, emphasized the significance of reliable data in informed decision-making: “With Sea, the Center will get important insights into global fleet operations which can help us fast-track the development and implementation of green corridors, technology projects, and progressive regulatory frameworks.”

A.P. Moller – Maersk (Maersk) recently announced a second quarter of 2023 that was above forecasts, although continuous market normalisation resulted in lower volumes and lower rates.
