Ningbo-Zhoushan Port’s container throughput ranks third globally

Ningbo-Zhoushan has achieved a container throughput of 33.35 million TEU in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 7.3 per cent.

The port’s container volume ranks third highest in the world.

The port also recorded a cargo throughput of over 1.25 billion tonnes in 2022, ranking first in the world for 14 consecutive years.

The volume of container sea-rail intermodal transport business exceeded 1.45 million TEU for the first time, with a year-on-year growth of over 20 per cent.

Ningbo-Zhoushan Port’s container throughput has helped increase the total throughput of all of China’s ports to 295.9 million TEU in 2022.

Ningbo-Zhoushan Port researched and introduced 18 measures to ensure smooth traffic. They also introduced 46 specific measures to stabilise progress and improve quality which continued to optimise the port’s logistics.

At present, the total number of shipping routes in Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has reached 300, 13 more than at the end of 2021, including 120 “The Belt and Road” routes.
